Lateralus is an editing piece created for Filmsupply’s Editfest competition.
Working with pre-existing footage and music, the challenge was to build a cohesive narrative from unrelated source material, using editing, pacing, color and sound design to connect the different scenes and create a consistent visual atmosphere.

Building the Narrative
The story was built entirely from pre-existing footage, finding visual and narrative connections between shots that were originally unrelated.
Two mysterious objects became the driving force of the narrative, connecting parallel storylines within the same post-apocalyptic world. As the characters move closer to their objectives, the editing becomes progressively faster and more chaotic, building tension toward the transformation and final confrontation.
